Somebody else

Occasionally, I reblog texts from blogs I am following.

Truth and Recovery

Somebody else should have been kinder.

Somebody else should have helped you

while you held your own broken pieces together.

Somebody should have been a tether.

Somebody should have told you

That you were always enough

While sitting beside you, in your dark,

And letting you know you’re worth it.

Somebody else should have known

How badly you needed their patience,

Their presence, and to borrow their hope.

They should have known – “I do it on my own”

Doesn’t mean that you do it alone.

It doesn’t mean it has to be cold

In the place where you sit and you wish

That somebody would welcome you home.

But somebody else should have warned me

How sharp your broken bits were.

Somebody else should have warned me,

You don’t care how your pain bleeds

And I’m covered in red sticky ooze,

Which you should have kept inside of you.
